In March 2011, I traded a bicycle for an 8-year-old Nikon D2H. Ten months later, working as photo editor and chief photographer for The Independent Florida Alligator, I found myself standing on Interstate 75 taking pictures of one of the deadliest pile-ups in Florida history. Until those photos went on to be picked up by national news outlets, I had never thought of journalism as a viable career option. But now, whether it's chronicling the Gators football team's season or capturing the aftermath of a bank robbery, my goal is to tell the story and to tell it best.
